Minibeast of the month

As voted by our visitors from Brackenbury School, the March minibeast is…. the centipede! You might know that the name comes Latin – cent means ‘a hundred’ and pede means ‘feet’.

However, if you look closely you will see that centipedes actually have more than 100 legs; in fact, different species of British centipedes can have between 15 and 101 pairs of legs! In addition, did you know that centipedes always have an odd number of legs?
