Special Educational Needs & Disabilities

The school’s SEND Co-ordinator or SENDCo Cristina Favata can be contacted at: senco@normandcroft.lbhf.sch.uk.

We provide a range of child-centred teaching and learning approaches that enable all children to gain access to a broad, balanced and appropriately differentiated curriculum. Children with a physical disability are fully supported in accessing all parts of the school.

More information on our approach to meeting children’s additional needs (our ‘school offer’) can be read below.

Our School Offer

The government published the Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) Code of Practice (CoP) in January 2015. Access the full document on the Department for Education (DfE) website.

A number of statutory requirements are contained in the CoP, including a requirement that we publish our approach to meeting the needs of children with special education needs and disabilities.

At Normand Croft Community School we are focused on creating an inclusive environment, where provision is tailored to the needs and abilities of all pupils, no matter how varied. All children may experience challenges or barriers with their learning at different times during their time at school. For this reason, at Normand Croft we are needs led and all the support we provide for our pupils is planned in order to meet their needs.

We recognise the importance of early identification of any additional needs, therefore we ensure that scaffolding and intervention is implemented as part of our daily practice to ensure that these are addressed immediately. We are committed to making sure all our pupils have the chance to thrive and we support them to meet their full potential.

What is a local offer?

A local offer is for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) aged 0 to 25 years. It provides information and support services available to families in their local area.

What is the Ordinarily Available provision?
