Some excited Year 3 children spotted a lot of bees foraging for nectar amongst the flowers in the vegetable garden.. and this beautiful passion flower.
Passion flowers have special nectar glands on its leaves, attracting ants that eat and kill many pests.
They are pollinated by our minibeast of the month, the carpenter bee: so-called because of its habit of burrowing into hard plant material such as dead wood or bamboo in order to nest.
